Helping children find comfort in traumatic circumstances - the Buddy Bag Foundation has new local support from the New Business Network.
At a recent meeting of New Business Network the group adopted the Buddy Bag Foundation as its new Charity. Watch Buddy Bag Video.
Sue Roberts, who is the founder of the New Business Network, introduced the Buddy Bag Foundation to the group as a recently appointed Ambassador in this area, she commented:
“I am delighted to bring this fantastic Charity to attention of local people. It’s hard to imagine what it must be like for children to be separated from their homes in an emergency. I want to ensure that we can help local children during this most difficult time and bring them a sense of security and care in their new surroundings. I truly believe that a Buddy Bag is the first step towards achieving this.”
The purpose of the Buddy Bag Foundation is to provide Buddy Bags to children who arrive in emergency accommodation without the essential items they need for their comfort and well-being.
Their mission is to make a difference to children who are living through a traumatic experience.
A Buddy Bag is a backpack that contains all the essential items a child needs. They include toiletries, pyjamas, socks and underwear. They also include comfort items such as a book, a photo frame and a teddy bear. A Buddy Bag is something a child can call their own, no matter where they go. Each bag costs £25.
So far, the New Business Network have donated £100 to the Charity and are looking to raise £750 by September to enable 30 Buddy Bags to be distributed locally. The New Business Network is also looking to build relationships with a local support centre and gain the support of local businesses to be part of a group of volunteers who can pack the bags for local children, or donate some of the contents of the bag.
